The Heritage Conservation Committee (HCC) gave an approval for the redevelopment of the Nagpur Railway Station on the condition that the existing structure of the station would not be demolished or changed as the structure has been classified as a Grade-II heritage building.

A meeting was held at Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) headquarters on August 13 for the discussion of the proposal of Indian Railway Station Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) for the redevelopment of Nagpur station.

So far, six parties have shown interest to revamp the station at a cost of Rs 465 crore. The construction of Nagpur Railway Station began in the early 1900s. The then Governor Frank Sly had inaugurated the station on 15th January 1925.

The historic building, which was built in the Beaux Art style using Kanhan yellow sandstone, is one of the iconic landmarks of the city.
