Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness at a private hospital Pune. Born in 1931, the Congress veteran had tested COVID-19 positive but was discharged after he had recovered from the same after testing negative.



Patil, who had been suffering from a number of co-morbidities including diabetes and high blood pressure, had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 16. He was later moved from Latur to Pune for further treatment.
Mr Patil Nilangekar passed away sometime around 2 am today. The cause of death was kidney failure, said a medical official.



He had to resign when the Bombay High Court passed strictures against him after his daughter’s marks in the MD exams were found to have been fudged.

Patil, who hailed from Latur in Marathwada region, was the Maharashtra Chief Minister from June 1985 to March 1986. His grandson Sambhaji Patil is a BJP MLA and was the labour minister in the Devendra Fadnavis-led government.

He is survived by wife, three sons, a daughter and grandchildren. His last rites would be performed in Nilanga on Wednesday.

KK passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata

Renowned playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata. The singer performed at Nazul Mancha auditorium on Tuesday (May 31). He went to his hotel after his performance and collapsed. He was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The exact cause of his death is unknown as of now.

Shane Warne

Shane Warne, the legendary Australian spinner, passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a suspected heart attack, his management has confirmed.

A statement by the managenent read: “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”
