The former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, on Friday, was given the Z+ VIP security protection by the Central government. The 66- year- old Rajya Sabha member would be now protected by commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
His security team would accompany him across the country during his travels and visits. The CRPF has a different VIP unit and Gogoi was now its 63rd protectee. A special team of 8-12 CRPF commandos would be securing the former CJI and a similar team would be guarding his residence.
The reason for this security up-gradation was unknown. When, he retired as the CJI in November 2019, he was secured by the Delhi police cops. The task was swiftly transferred to CRPF on Friday undertaking all the necessary security protocols.
