Be ready for a stricter lockdown and curfew if COVID-19 norms are flouted, warns NMC Chief Tukaram Mundhe
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe on Wednesday, July 22 warned that lockdown along with curfew could be implemented in the city again if COVID-19 norms are repeatedly flouted. However, Mundhe said that the lockdown would be imposed for 14-15 days.
Speaking about the same, Mundhe said that citizens would be intimated at least two to three days prior to the implementation of lockdown. Mundhe said, If there is a lockdown, only people with medical emergencies would be given permission to step out. This is the kind of lockdown and curfew we?ll impose if at all we do. Under the pretext of buying ?essentials, people keep stepping out.
People would have to stock up essentials at their place for 15 days as no one would be allowed to step out of the house. It wouldn’t just be a lockdown. Curfew would also be implemented along.”
Mundhe added, Lockdown won’t provide 100% solution to our problem. If we want to break the COVID-19 chain, we need to bring in a behavioural change. Each shop-keeper, customer, officer, auto drivers, journalists or even me, we all have to abide by COVID-19 norms.
