Ahead of polls, Nagpur BJP Corporator Dr Ravindra Bhoyar joins Congress

In a sudden turn of political events, Dr Ravindra Bhoyar, who was a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Corporator at the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, joined Congress on Monday, November 22.
He joined the Congress party in the presence of Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, minister Sunil Kedar, Nagpur Congress MLC Abhijeet Wanjari, Nagpur Congress President and MLA Vikas Thakre, other leaders and party workers.
Dr Bhoyar was one of the senior-most leaders of the BJP in Nagpur. Also, he was a strong supporter of the RSS.

As per political pundits, this could be a setback for the BJP- ruling party at the NMC in the upcoming elections.

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray said there was a wave of andh bhakts (a term colloquially used for blind illogical followers) at the moment and people shouldn’t become andh bhakts.

Thackeray said the same while virtually releasing state cabinet minister Dr Nitin Raut’s book ‘Ambedkar on Population Policy’ on Sunday from Mumbai.

Thackeray said, “Babasaheb Ambedkar’s thoughts guide us and show us the way forward. He not only framed the Constitution but also told us the obstacles that may come up and how to overcome them. The true follower will understand the teaching of his God and spread it to all. The blind follower will only praise superficially and then sometimes change his affection.”

Raut, who was praised by Thackeray for coming up with a ‘well-researched’ book, said the government in the state should implement suggestions given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and initiate welfare programmes based on them.

The event was held at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Nagpur in the presence of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Professor at Indiana University in USA Dr Kevin Brown, ex-Chairman UGC and renowned economist Dr Sukhdeo Thorat apart from several other prominent leaders.
