Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, on Thursday, October 7, announced that the state government would be conducting a mega vaccination drive Mission Kavach Kundal? to vaccinated masses at the earliest.
Under this drive, almost 15 lakh citizens would be vaccinated on a daily basis starting from today. The drive would begin today and end on October 15, said Tope.
The Central government kept a target of administrating 100 crore doses before Dussehra. This drive would be a contributing factor in this mission.
Yesterday while talking to media persons, Tope had said that the third wave might hit Maharashtra after festivities like Dussehra and Diwali.
Tope said, Almost 65% of eligible citizens have received first dose and 30% citizens are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Commenting on Mission Kavach Kundal?, the Health Minister further said that he had a meeting with all District Collectors and Divisional Commissioners and stressed on the pressing need to work at an enhanced pace to complete as many vaccinations as possible.
On October 7, Maharashtra opened places of worship across the state. Tope believed that a person, who was fully vaccinated against COVID-19, might not have to suffer severe consequences of the virus and could avoid fatality too.
