Himachal Pradesh becomes 1st state in India to partially vaccinate its entire population
Amid third wave speculations, the state of Himachal Pradesh declared that its entire population is now partially vaccinated against COVID-19.
The state vaccinated all its eligible adults with first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Himachal Pradesh government would fully vaccinate its citizens by end of November, said States Health Minister Rajiv Saizal.
Himachal Pradesh was one of the most affected states during second wave. Experts believed that this might had happened because of the tourists, who thronged Manali flouting COVID-19 norms.
Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur took to Twitter and wrote, It is a matter of joy that we have achieved the target of administering the first dose of Covid vaccine in the state. Certainly, with the cooperation of the public, we will soon achieve the next goal as well. Once again congratulations to all and thanks to all.
Saizal said that if any citizen was left out of the count, the issue would be investigated and he/she would be vaccinated soon. According to experts, third wave of COVID-19 would be at its peak in October.
Increasing speed of vaccination can save India from third wave, said a report of Union Home Ministry, which was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office.
