Nagpur kickstarts vaccination drive for all above 45 from today; see documents required

Nagpur kickstarted vaccination drive against COVID-19 from today, April 1, for people aged 45 years and above irrespective of the comorbidities.

All eligible people can either make an advance appointment on the CoWIN portal http://www.cowin.gov.in/home or get themselves registered at their nearest Municipal Zonal Office.

There are total 86 government (40) and private centres (46) where people can get vaccinated in Nagpur. The city administration aims to vaccinate 6.5 lakh people in the drive that begins from today.

While the vaccination would be provided free of cost at government hospitals, the private hospitals cannot charge patients beyond the capped price.

“From April 1 all people above 45 yrs of age will be eligible for vaccination. Advance appointment can be booked through cowin.gov.in. If you don’t want to do this, you can go to your nearest vaccination centre after 3 pm & go for on-site registration, said Union Health Secretary R Bhushan.


Additional Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner Ram Joshi said that the vaccination would be carried out in two shifts at eight centres (that include six health centres of NMC, IGGMCH and AIIMS) from 8 am to 10 pm.

NMC Commissioner B Radhakrishnan told Nation Next, People who choose to get themselves vaccinated would have to produce a photo-identity card, which could either be an aadhar card, voter ID card, passport, driving license or even or a PAN card.

NMC Commissioner’s appeal:


Radhakrishnan appealed, The situation is grim in Nagpur. I request everyone eligible to get vaccinated immediately without wasting any time. That’s how we can break this chain. This will protect us and our families; don’t take lightly.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
