The 5th Maharashtra State Ranking Veterans Table Tennis Tournament was conducted recently by Nagpur District Table Tennis Association at Subhedar Hall, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj University Ground, Nagpur. This two-day tournament was inaugurated by former Advocate General Shreehari Aney and had Mathematician Kiran Gadkari as the chief guest on the second day.
At this tournament around 100 table tennis players participated for the selections of Maharashtra Table Tennis Team for the nationals tournament to be held from January 17, 2016 to January 23, 2016 at Pune.
Male players competed at the tournament in the age categories of 40, 50, 60 and 65 and female players competed in the age categories 40, 50 and 60. While among the male players, Upendra Muley, Vivek Alwani, Avinash Joshi and Deepak Dudhane emerged as winners in the age categories 40, 50, 60 and 65 respectively, among female players Trupti Machwe, Anagha Joshi and Rajeshwari Methere emerged as winners in the age categories 40, 50 and 60 respectively.
Winners, semi-finalists and quarter-finalists were awarded with cash prizes totalling Rs 75,000 and trophies by the chief guest Kiran Gadkari.
Deepak Kanetkar and Praful Nandedkar were the chief referees at this tournament.
