Travellers may need ‘vaccine passport’ to travel next year

As coronavirus vaccines have started rolling out in various countries, and people are trying to get back to their normal lives, several companies and technology groups have begun with the development of ‘vaccine passport’, which will come handy for travelers from next year.

The Common Trust Network, an initiative by Geneva-based nonprofit company, has created a CommonPass app that will allow users to upload medical data such as a COVID-19 test result or, eventually, a proof of vaccination by a hospital or medical professional, generating a health certificate or pass in the form of a QR code that can be shown to authorities without revealing sensitive information. For travel, the app lists health pass requirements at the points of departure and arrival based on your itinerary.

You can be tested every time you cross a border. You cannot be vaccinated every time you cross a border, Thomas Crampton, Chief marketing and communications officer for The Commons Project, told CNN Business. He stressed upon on the need for a simple and easily transferable set of credentials, or a digital yellow card, referring to the paper document, which will be issued as proof of vaccination.

Apart from CommonPass app, IBM has also developed a mobile application called Digital Health Pass, which will allow companies and venues to customise indicators they would require for entry including coronavirus tests, temperature checks and vaccination records. Credentials corresponding to those indicators are then stored in a mobile wallet.

Ensuing that people around the world will use vaccine passports, a few companies within the COVID-19 Credentials Initiative have also started developing a smart card that strikes a middle ground between the traditional paper vaccine certificates and an online version that’s easier to store and reproduce.

For us it’s [about] how that digital credential can be stored, can be presented, not only through smartphones but also in other ways for those people who don’t have access to stable internet and also who don’t own smartphones, said Lucy Yang, co-lead of the COVID-19 Credentials Initiative.

The World Health Organization (WHO), however, has said that these passports may not be helpful in reducing transmission as there was always a possibility of second infection.

Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Karad recently unveiled Dr Kavita Chandak’s book ‘Healing women with Homeopathy’ at the recently held National Conference of Homeopathy (HAMI 2022) in Aurangabad. Prominently present during the conference were renowned homeopath Dr Arun Bhasme and 3,000 other doctors.

In her book, Dr Chandak, who hails from Nagpur, has covered the most important and widespread gynecological disorders such as menarche, over dysmenorrhea to menopause; reflects issues from which women suffer frequently like sterility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, breast issues, pregnancy-related conditions like constipation, morning sickness, heartburn, uterine prolapse, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and urinary problems, to mention a few.

Dr Chandak has also given a thorough explanation on topics like cancer of the breast, uterus and cervix, which are the most prevalent types of cancers in women. Her book contains a study of several homeopathic remedies with special emphasis on gynecology through the chapters like the core of a few important female remedies and the homeopathic gynecological kit. The book also gives a glimpse of rare and lesser-known remedies.

It is worth noting that Dr Chandak holds two golden book world records for treating kidney disorders and a case of mucormycosis. She is also the recipient of ‘The Excellence in Homeopathy award 2022’ given by Hpathy.com to 66 renowned homeopaths throughout the world. Over the years, Dr Chandak has organized more than 800 free medicine distribution camps. She provides her services through her web clinic in 20+ countries. Her area of specialization is behavioral psychiatric disorders like autism and ADHD.
