Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot on Monday, November 2, announced that the state government is all set to bring law to make wearing masks mandatory. He made this announcement via his Twitter account.

Gehlot tweeted that Rajasthan is the first state in the country to bring a law that will make it compulsory for all the citizens of the state to wear masks. Masks are the only vaccine we have that can help us to fight against COVID-19. This decision will support the on-going mass movement against the virus he added.

The Gehlot-led Rajasthan government said that the legislation to make masks mandatory was brought in the on-going session of the House of the Rajasthan Assembly on Monday itself.
The government also decided to ban the sale of firecrackers ahead of the festive season amid the pandemic and recently held a meeting to discuss the rules, regulations and laid the guidelines for Unlock 6.

In the meeting, the Principal Secretary (Home), Abhay Kumar, said that educational institutions and coaching centres including school-colleges in the state will remain closed for regular educational activities till November 16.
Swimming pools, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment parks etc., will remain closed till November 30.

The maximum limit of guests at weddings should be 100, he added.
Gehlot government believed that by bringing a law, which made wearing masks compulsory will help to prevent the spread to the deadly virus, which is responsible for the death of millions worldwide.
