NMC 1st in Maharashtra to deploy 12 buses as mobile COVID-19 centres| Nagpur

In order to get maximum number of citizens tested for COVID-19 in Nagpur, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) set up mobile COVID-19 test centre in each zone. For the safety of the citizens, minor changes have been made in the structure of NMC’s ‘Aapli Bus.’

The buses have been converted into ‘Mobile Covid Testing Centres’ so that people can get their RT-PCR test done.

For this, two doctors, a nurse and a cleaning staff have been appointed in the bus. Arrangements to test the patients have been made in such a way that no direct contact of anyone is made with the doctor. In all 55 swab collection centres are functioning in the city as of now.

At present there are 12 such buses, which were inaugurated by Mayor Sandeep Joshi and NMC Commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said, The number of COVID-19 patients in the city has been on a decline. But the risk has not yet diminished. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the testing capacity. These buses will be beneficial for many people who cannot go to the test centres due to illness, old age or other reasons. The initiative has been taken to ensure that no one in the city hides the symptoms of Corona; that they are tested and treated on time.

He also said that NMC is the first in the civic body in the state to use city bus as COVID-19 test centre.
