Chinas Wuhan city, which was the point of origin of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, witnessed a massive electronic festival held at the citys local water park, giving a ray of hope to millions across the globe.

Thousands of participants were seen dancing in the pool to the beats of music with no social distancing and no masks. Partygoers in swimsuits bunched together shoulder to shoulder, waving to the beat of the music while cooling down in hip-high water; others relaxed on inflatable rubber tubes that packed the pool to the brim, with little space to float around, said CNN.

Wuhans Maya Beach Water Park was flooded with people over the weekend where people had gathered to attend an electronic music festival.

After facing a 76-day-long lockdown, the waterpark reopened in June with capped attendance at 50% of its normal capacity, Hubei Daily reported.

First case of COVID-19 in the world was reported in Wuhan in December last year.

The virus was said to have emerged in a wet market that sold seafood and wildlife in the central Chinese city.

Housing 11 million people, life in Wihan has returned to normalcy after no new cases were reported since mid of May.

The last three Coronavirus patients in Wuhan were discharged on June 5 and the centrally located Chinese city now records zero cases of the virus, state media reported.

According to data from the countrys National Health Commission and Hubei Provincial Health Commission, the virus affected nearly 60% of population (over 84,000 people) across China.
