Russia launches world’s first COVID-19 vaccine, President Putins daughter gets vaccinated

As different countries of the world are trying to develop a potential COVID-19 vaccine, Russias president Vladimir Putin launched world’s first COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday (August 11). Putin informed that one of his two daughters has received a shot of the vaccine and is feeling well. 

During a press conference with government ministers Putin said, This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered in Russia. I know that it works quite effectively, forms strong immunity, and I repeat, it has passed all the needed checks. As per Russian news agencies, the vaccine is said to ?work effectively? and also ?forms sustainable immunity.

Putin applauded the scientists involved in development of the vaccine and thanked everyone who were part of the process describing it to be a very important step for the world. Hoping that the countrys research body will soon begin with the mass production, Putin asked Health Minister Mikhail Murashko to keep him informed about the latest developments regarding the same.

The vaccines registration is conditional and trails for the same will continue while the production is underway informed the Murashko, who had earlier said that mass vaccinations could begin in October but risk groups, which include medical workers, may be offered the doses this month.

Putin has directed the government to ensure appropriate funding for its development, noting up to 60% of Russians should be vaccinated against the virus. The vaccine, which has been developed by the Gamaleya National Research Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology and Russain Defence Ministry showed immunity in all participants, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

Clinical trials of the potential vaccine began on June 18, which included 38 volunteers. All the participants, who divided into two groups, developed immunity. After the successful trail, the first group was discharged on July 15 and the second group on July 20.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
