Body of suspected COVID-19 patient left by hospital at bus stop for three hours
In yet another case of carelessness by hospital staff, a body of a person, suspected to have had contracted COVID-19, was left at a bus stop in Haveri district of Karnataka by staff of Ranebennur Taluk Hospital for over three hours in a PPE kit on Saturday.
As per reports, the 45-year-old deceased was suffering from fever from a week and had gone to the hospital for treatment. His swab sample was taken for COVID-19 test on June 28. On Saturday, the man had gone to the hospital to collect his report.

As his results were yet to come, the man went to the bus shelter to take rest. The man, however, was found dead at the shelter after some time. After the hospital was informed, staff rushed to the shelter, wrapped the body in a PPE kit and left it there.
After outrage over social media, the staff went back to the bus shelter after three hours and took the body in the ambulance for the last rites.
Dr Rajendra Doddamani, District Health Officer, told a daily that, it was a grave mistake by the hospital staff to abandon the body of the person, who was suspected of the deadly virus. Doddamani also informed that action will be taken against the hospital and an inquiry will be initiated into the incident.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
