Trains, platforms at Nagpur’s railway stations to have drones, thermal scanning cameras
To ensure safety of passengers traveling in trains and for the ones waiting on platforms at Nagpur’s railway stations ? main station (Nagpur Railway Station) and Ajni, Central Railways has designed an Artificial Intelligence Thermal Scanning Camera for checking temperatures of passengers amid COVID-19 lockdown. Also, within one month, drones would be deployed at both the stations to prevent criminal activities.
Ashutosh Pandey, Divisional Security Commissioner for Nagpur, told Nation Next, There are two major activities undertaken by Central Railways for Nagpur, one of which is the Artificial Intelligence Thermal Scanning Camera and second, the deployment of drones. The scanning camera has already been installed at the main station for screening the temperatures of passengers. A tablet has also been provided, through which passengers can get the status of their tickets and also come to know which particular platform, their respective trains would be arriving on.
While the thermal screening camera has already been set up at citys main station, drones would soon be deployed at main station and Ajni station.

Indian Railways embarks on innovative revenue journey with Haldiram’s branding at Nagpur station

The Nagpur division of the Central Railways developed a unique model for revenue streaming. Within a span of 33 days, it completed the physical branding of five of its locomotives for Nagpur based confectionary brand – Haldiram’s. The non-fare revenue scheme has been conceptualised by Piyush Goyal-led Railway Ministry.


Through an open tender to M/S Haldiram’s, Nagpur division priced the contract for the popular sweets brand for reportedly Rs 52 lakhs. Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal in his tweet wrote, In a novel initiative to increase revenue, Railways has permitted the physical branding of locomotives. Through this initiative, railways will ensure additional revenue for providing world class passenger services.

Fitness centre, railway-coach inspired saloon at Nagpur Railway Station to be operational in 3 months


Taking Prime Minister’s Fit India Movement a notch higher, Central Railways in association with Vocano Lifestyle (the owner of Calipso Lifestyle Saloon brand) would soon set up fitness-wellness centre at Nagpur Railway Station.
Yoga facilities and gym equipment would be set up at Nagpur Railway Station so that railway in the city could generate revenue. The fitness centre, which would be free of cost, would accommodate gym and yoga space on platform one. However, services at the salon, which would be inspired from a railway coach Railoon, would be chargeable.
Railway Minster has also directed to make fitness centers across railway stations and premises for railway passengers and employees.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Krishnath Patil told Nation Next, Passengers waiting for trains can get benefit of these services even this shall help them grooming up by using saloon services at Railoon. This is the 12th innovative idea proposal finalised by the Nagpur Division to augment its non-fare revenue.
Patil added, Within two months the designs of the saloon and fitness centre would be finalsied and maximum by the end of this year, the services would be operational at Nagpur Railway Station. On the basis of fitness and wellness set up at Indore Railway Station, we’re going to get the model for Nagpur designed.
