At 47, Nagpur’s Ramdeobaba College professor Sunita Dhote becomes Central India’s first Iron Lady

Sunita Dhote

Sunita Dhote from Nagpur became the first Iron Lady of Central India during Ironman 2020, which was recently held at Dubai. Dhote, who is 47-year-old, is also a professor at Nagpur’s Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management. Dhote won the series of long distance triathlon races in seven hours and 40 minutes. Dhote covered a distance of 113 kms that included 90 kms cycling, 1.09 kms swimming and 21 kms running during the championship organised by World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

In November 2014, to spread awareness on Swacch Bharat Mission, Dhote cycled for 1412 kms to Puducherry thus making an entry in the Asia Book of Record for Longest Cycle Expedition

As per TOI, Dhote, who has already represented India in the FINA 15th World Masters Championship at Montreal for swimming and pool diving, said, It was really a challenging experience as just 15 days back on two occasions I met with an accident while cycling practice in Nagpur. The motive behind accomplishing such event was to share with every one that with age you develop the wisdom as well as good health too, just by spending one hour in the morning for your health through any form of physical exercise may be swimming, cycling, running or walking.
