England batsman Alex Hales replaces David Warner in Sunrisers Hyderabad team

England batsman Alex Hales, on Saturday, was declared as the replacement for Australian batsman David Warner in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The announcement comes after Warner along with Steve Smith was banned to play in IPL 2018 following a12-month-ban on them by Cricket Australia because of the ball-tampering scandal.
Hales, who was bought for his base price of Rs one crore from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) list, will now be opening for Sunrisers Hyderabad instead of Warner. The Sunrisers Hyderabad squad who had David Warner as the captain earlier will now be captained by New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson.
While Australian cricketers Steve Smith and David Warner were handed 12-month bans post the ball-tampering scandal, Cameron Bancroft was banned for nine months.
The 11th season of the Indian Premier League will commence from April 7, 2018, and the first match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai.
