In the biggest one-day spike in coronavirus cases in Nagpur, 61 people tested positive on June 10 taking the tally of cases in the city beyond 830. All 61 patients, who hail from Naik Talao-Bangladesh area, were quarantined at VNIT quarantine centre.
Naik Talao-Bangladesh area in Nagpur has now emerged as one of the biggest COVID-19 hotspots in the city after Mominpura and Satranjipura. The number of cases from this new hotspot has crossed 140. Naik Talao-Bangaldesh area is a congested slum in East Nagpur.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat hoists national flag at Nagpur headquarters
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat hoisted the national flag at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on the 75th Independence Day in the presence of several RSS volunteers and pracharaks.
The RSS had organised a programme on the occasion of Independence Day at Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti at Reshimbagh where Nagpur Mahanagar Sahsanghchalak Shridhar Gadge was the chief guest.
On Saturday, Bhagwat hoisted the tricolour at the organisation’s headquarters as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

India’s ace stock market investor and ‘Big Bull’ of Dalal Street Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away in Mumbai this morning. Both a trader and a chartered accountant, he was one of the richest men in the country.
Reportedly, he was brought to the Candy Breach Hospital in Mumbai at 6:45 am and was declared dead. He was suffering from multiple health issues including kidney ailments and had been discharged from the hospital a few weeks ago.
The 62-year-old’s one of the business ventures also included India’s newest budget carrier – Akasa Air – that was formed by teaming up with ex-Jet Airways CEO Vinay Dube and former IndiGo head Aditya Ghosh. As per Forbes, Jhunjhunwala owned approx. $5.8 billion.

Condoling his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said, “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was indomitable. Full of life, witty and insightful, he leaves behind an indelible contribution to the financial world. He was also very passionate about India’s progress. His passing away is saddening. My condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

OPINION: Questions that arise from ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign…
OPINION: Har Ghar Tiranga is the new campaign that’s is keeping the country currently busy as India celebrates ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and the much-awaited campaign flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Political parties, leaders, celebrities across the country have been displaying the tricolour at their houses to mark the 75th year of Indian Independence with the latest (and finally) being Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and social media handle of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)!
The RSS on Friday replaced its traditional saffron flag with the tricolor picture on the profile pictures of its social media accounts, while Gadkari displayed the tricolour at his residence in Nagpur around the same time.
Speaking about the campaign, what should the government focus on is ‘har ghar roti’ and ‘har ghar naukri’ but instead what the government focuses is a gimmick that is keeping the countrymen busy. Why do I think the #harghartiranga campaign is just another scheme. A systematically planned dispersal of money campaign…
I have been reading reports about organisations deducting money from the salaries of their employees without their permission for the #harghartiranga campaign.
This is not only illegal but is unethical as well. Why shouldn’t the employee have the choice to do this on their own?
First and foremost, we should know where this money is been deposited? Which government agency is responsible for the dispersal of these collected funds?
How much is the real cost of the flag provided and how much is the profit they are earning under the name of this forced campaign?
I agree that the khadi industry alone could not provide these 20 crore flags but what we should know is who are providing these flags? We should know, which state received the most orders of these flags.
The official announcement of the campaign took place on the July 17th, but what would be interesting to know is that since when is the textile industry in Gujarat manufacturing these flags? Did they already know about the campaign?
Is Gujarat manufacturing these flags in the shadows of the upcoming elections? Will this campaign help the BJP to gain votes in the upcoming elections?
Has Gujarat’s languishing textile industries been brought to life behind the ‘tricolor campaign,’ so that at the time of elections, people get the illusion that work has started and some money will also come in hand?
We have to question the transparency of the campaign. Knowing this is not to oppose this campaign; it is important to know how this campaign is benefitting the already penalised poor and middle class citizens of the country…
