While addressing media on Thursday, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole took a dig at Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar for staying silent on fuel price hike and threatened of stalling their films in the state, if they continued to do so.
“When Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India, both Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar used to tweet against hike in petrol prices. Now, when international crude prices are low, but the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is increasing the rates of petrol, diesel and LPG, why are they silent about it? The UPA government functioned democratically, hence they could criticize it,” Patole said.
“If they do not speak up in favour of citizens and justice, then we would not allow shootings or screenings of their films in Maharashtra,” he added.
