WHO chief lauds Aarogya Setu app, says it helped identify COVID-19 clusters

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, DirectorGeneral, World Health Organization (WHO), has praised India’s Aarogya Setu app and has said that the app helped identify COVID-19 clusters. Ghebreyesus said in an official statement: Aarogya Setu app from India has been downloaded by 150 million users and has helped city public health departments to identify areas where clusters could be anticipated and expand testing in a targeted way.

Other than India, Ghebreyesus also mentioned that contract tracing applications from countries like Germany (Corona Warn app) and United Kingdom (NHSs COVID-19 app) have also helped healthcare systems in tracing probable infected persons. Earlier, the World Bank had also praised Aarogya Setu app in its role in identifying COVID-19 hotspots.
Aarogya Setu, which was launched in April 2020, has been developed with an intention to help Indians self-assess and calculate their risk of contracting COVID-19.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
