The record breaking knock was achieved by Verma at 15 years and 285 days surpassing Tendulkar, who had notched up his maiden test fifty at 16 years and 214 days.

Verma scored 73 runs off 49 balls against West Indies helping Indian Womens team to win the match by 84 runs on Saturday at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium located near Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, in West Indies.

Playing in her only fifth T20 match, Verma, during her 73 run knock, smashed six fours and four sixes. Verma shared an opening stand of 143 runs with Smriti Mandhana to help the team post a challenging total of 185 runs.

Chasing India’s total, West Indies could only manage to make 101 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
