Senior Chhattisgarh government official suspiciously ends life in Nagpur hotel

Rajesh Srivastava
Known to be non-addict and a diligent officer, Rajesh Srivastava, a senior government official, working as the Assistant Director in the Treasury and Retirement Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh, was found dead in a hotel room of Sitabuldi in Nagpur.
Srivastava allegedly committed suicide in a suspicious condition at Pooja Lodge in Sitabuldi at Nagpur by consuming poison called Celphos. Srivastava reportedly took the extreme step due to job stress.
On March 1, he went to his office at the Treasury Directorate in Raipur where his wife had left him at 11:30 am. However, Srivastava did not stay there for long and after just ten minutes, he left the office. However, during those ten minutes, he was frequently seen moving around and looking back at someone as seen in the CCTV footage recovered from the Treasury Directorate office in Raipur, reported ABP.
Soon Srivastava left the office. His family lodged a missing complaint with Raipur police after he didn’t return home till evening. On March 2, he booked a room (number 104) on the second floor of Pooja Lodge in Sitabardi at Nagpur.
However, he didn’t open the door after 10 am on March 3. As the hotel staff grew suspicious, they alerted the police in Nagpur.
After cops broke open the door, cops saw Srivastava dead and also recovered a packet of the poisonous drug Celphos.
It has been said that Srivastava was under stress for the last several days as he was abruptly replaced a year back and was reportedly subjected to abusive treatment.
Since then, he was fighting a legal battle against the government and administration over the same.
Moreover, he hadn’t received regular salary for eight months.

Satish Ukey
Enforcement Directorate (ED) took the custody of RTI activist advocate Satish Ukey and his brother Pradeep Ukey after raiding the former’s residence at Parvati Nagar in Nagpur on Thursday morning at 7 am. Satish, who is also the lawyer of MPCC President Nana Patole, had filed an election petition against former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis.

For the past few years, Ukey had also been filing petitions in court against several BJP leaders.
During the raid, an army of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was also deployed under his house. The crime branch had issued a notice to Ukey regarding a land transaction in Nagpur.
