Sans comorbidity, 33-yr-old Nagpur’s ex-cricketer dies of COVID within 10 minutes of hospitalisation

Kunal Lonkar
Former Vidarbha cricketer from Nagpur Kunal Lonkar (33) passed away on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday after battling against COVID-19. Kunal, who tested positive on March 30, had an oxygen saturation (SpO2) of just 30 whereas the normal range lies between 95-99.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to the virus within 10 minutes of getting admitted to a private hospital.
Kunal, who was the captain of the Under-15 cricket team of Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), didn’t have any comorbidity.
His family members complained that they didn’t get any bed with ICU or ventilator for Kunal on Wednesday midnight. He was rushed to another private hospital where he died in a casualty ward.
Kunal was in home isolation before getting admitted and was admitted after he wasn’t able to breathe.
He also represented Vidarbha in the Under-17 category.
However, he reportedly lost focus and couldn’t perform well after his fathers death. Kunal was a student of citys St Xaviers High School, Hingna and Dhanwate National College (DNC).
A resident of Dabha, Kunal is survived by his wife and a five-year-old son.
