After Nagpur Court granted bail to Nagpur resident Sameet Thakkar, Mumbai Police arrested him for allegedly making derogatory comments against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and State Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray on Twitter.

Cops at VP Road Police Station immediately took him into custody from court premises itself. He will be produced in Mazgaon Court today.

Nagpur Court had bailed Thakkar on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 and a cash surety of Rs 10,000.

The court, on Friday, had extended the police custody of Thakkar, who was arrested on October 24 for posting questionable remarks on twitter like Modern day Aurangzeb? and ?Baby Penguin? against Maharashtra CM and his son Aaditya Thackeray. He had also commented against Energy Minister Nitin Raut.

He was produced before the court after his initial four-day remand had ended and the court had extended his police custody till November 2.

Meanwhile, BKC Police Station in Mumbai also lodged an FIR against Thakkar, who was taken to Mumbai via train.

Official spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Suresh Nakhua recently tweeted that Thakkar will be presented in Mazgaon court on Tuesday, Sameet Thakkar has been brought to Mumbai and will be presented in Mazgaon court today, he said.

Thakkar has over 62,000 followers on Twitter and is also followed by several prominent BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At the time of arrest, police had described Thakkar as a BJP functionary. However, his brother, Rishi Thakkar, clarified that Sameet was not a part of any political party but just a pro-BJP person.
Rishi also told ANI that his brother was paying the price for a remark that was originally coined by NCP leaders, My brother is paying the price of calling Maharashtra CM a modern-day Aurangzeb and his son, a baby penguin- the terms coined by NCP leaders who are currently in government with them, he said.

It’s human rights violation by police as my brother’s hands were tied and face was covered with black cloth when he was brought to court today. They are treating him the way hard-core terrorist is treated, he added.

Some unknown miscreants in Nagpur vandalised Bishop Cotton School situated on VIP in Dharampeth during the weekend. Apart from the broken plant pots and damaged earthing wires, empty alcohol bottles could also be seen thrown on the floor of the classrooms.

Prima facie it seems some drunkards might have used the school as their hang out place to consume alcohol as it was a weekend and the school was closed. However, nothing could be ascertained as of now; the investigation on the same is on.

When Nation Next spoke to Sonia Singh, Principal at Bishop Cotton School, she told us, What kind of a mentality is this Such people should at least spare kids. It’s so disheartening to see something like this. Class 10 students had their board exams today; unfortunately, we couldn’t indulge them much.”

Singh added, “All the pots have been broken, the earthing wires for the newly installed water cooler for kids has also been damaged.”

However, Singh, who filed an FIR at Sitabuld Police Station today, said, this wasn’t the first such incident; even during lockdown, some miscreants had stolen printers and other property of the school.
