Restaurants, bars likely to reopen in Maharashtra from October 1st week

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, after a meeting with representatives of various hotel industry associations on Monday, September 28, is likely to allow the reopening of all 4 lakh-odd restaurants, bars and eateries in the state from the first week of October. It is being said that the government is taking this decision, keeping in mind the Navratri festival, which commences from October 17.

The state government has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the restaurants, which is expected to be finalised in the next few days.

Sherry Bhatia, President, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) told TOI, We thank the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who today assured us that Restaurants will be allowed to reopen in the first week of October 2020. The Hon. CM has also agreed to favourably consider HRAWIs petition for the waiver of excise license fees for a period of 6 months, the duration for which establishments were required to be kept shut. Also, the deadline for deferment of payments towards the first installment of the Excise Licence fee has been extended to 30th September which will bring restaurateurs big relief.
