Passengers arriving at Nagpur from Sharjah to undergo 7-day paid institutional quarantine

Considering the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in Nagpur since past few days, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), on Saturday, issued an order stating that the passengers of the flights arriving at Nagpur from Sharjah, UAE, would be sent for seven-day institutional quarantine.

The Sharjah-Nagpur-Sharjah international flights would arrive at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on February 14, February 21 and February28, Airport authorities informed.

 

The first flight arrived at Nagpur Airport on February 14, at 3:45 am. NMC has appointed Deputy Engineer Anand Mohake Junior Engineer Deepak Meshram anf Civil Engineering Assistant Sanjay Bisen to monitor the arriving passengers.

 

NMC arranged five buses at the airport to send the passengers to seven-day institutional quarantine. Passengers disembarking from the plane were provided a list of 13 hotels (total 240 beds) to chose for a paid quarantine.

 

The flyers, reportedly would have to bear all the expenses of hotel charges ranging between Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 per day, as well as RTPCR testing.

 

However, five kinds of passengers would be exempted from institutional quarantine in exceptional circumstances, which include:

 

1. Senior Citizens over the age of 65 years, who need support.

 

2. Pregnant women.

 

3. Parents with children under the age of five years.

 

4. Patients with cancer, disability, mental illness cerebral palsy and those in need of medical treatment.

 

5. A person who has been injured in a serious accident or if someone died in the passengers family.

 

These exceptional circumstances would only be accepted after passengers submit required documents.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
