Panic spreads after party in Civil Lines with COVID-19 positives family member sparks rumours

As Nagpur crossed the tally of 900 COVID-19 positive patients on Thursday, panic spread after a party at a residential apartment Heritage? in Civil Lines in Nagpur with minimum 10-12 guests sparked rumours. Commotion ensued that the party, which was said to have taken place few days back, also involved the brother of a recently infected COVID-19 patient.

A source, extremely close to few of the guests said to have partied at an apartment in Heritage apartments, on the basis of anonymity told Nation Next, I was even told the party had more than 20 people but I’m not sure of this. Some say it had 10-12 people, some say more than 50; there are different versions to it. The party that took place also had the brother of the COVID-19 infected patient (admitted at GMC).”

A report also suggested that the COVID-19 patient was also a part of the party that took place in Civil Lines. However, we at Nation Next aren’t sure of how authentic this particular information is. The father of the COVID-19 positive, who got quarantined at a city hotel with wife and son on Wednesday, told us, Our swab samples have been taken and the test results are being awaited. At the time of filing this story, the father of the COVID-19 patient told us that the reports of all three came negative.

All our calls to Tukaram Mundhe, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner (NMC) to enquire about the same went unanswered.

As per the same source, a similar party with around 40 guests including the brother of the COVID-19 positive had taken place few days back at one of city businessmens residence behind the complex that houses a bakery Amazing Blazing Cakes and personal care store ?Body Shop? at Alankar Square.

Confusion also persisted on Wednesday evening after some people assumed the reported party took place at citys Hotel Heritage at Civil Lines after a screenshot (shared in a WhatsApp group), got viral. As per the screenshot, a party that included the brother of COVID-19 infected, took place at Heritage. Hence, many people assumed the party took place at the hotel and not the apartment, which eventually led to a series of commotion and panic among the residents of the building where the owner of the hotel resided.

Randhir Khanduja, owner at Hotel Heritage told Nation Next that he filed a police complaint on Wednesday evening against a user, who according to the screenshot, didn’t clearly mention whether the party was held in the apartments or at the hotel. Nation Next has a copy of the above mentioned police complaint filed by Khanduja.
