According to reports, oil companies are implementing the new system called Delivery Authentication Code (DAC), to prevent theft and identify the right customer.

Home delivery of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will have a new system from November 1, 2020. Hence, the ones who wish to receive doorstep delivery of their gas cylinders will now be required to provide an OTP for the same.

According to reports, the new implementation will help Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) in prevention of theft and also help the companies to identify the right customer.

The DAC will be first put into action for 100 smart cities and will be gradually expanded. A pilot project is already under process at Jaipur city of Rajasthan.

Everything you need to know:

- Under the new system, the customer will now be able to book cooking gas cylinders online for which, an OTP will be sent on their respective registered mobile numbers.

Hence during delivery, customers will have to show the code for receiving the LPG cylinder.

- If in any case, the consumer’s mobile number is not updated, then the delivery person can update it in real-time with the help of an application and generate a new code.

The change in system will help consumers get timely deliveries, but is likely to cause difficulties for ones who do not have their details updated with the LPG delivery department.

The Delivery Authentication Code system will not be applicable for commercial cylinders.
