Nagpur rural police team led by SP Rakesh Ola along with arrested accused and the seized cash
Nagpur rural police on Tuesday two persons for allegedly murdering a farm labourer at a farm house at Mangli in Kuhi Taluka and seized Rs 37 lakh in cash from the accused. The farmhouse belongs to a Nagpur-based advocate Dhyaneshwar Phule.
As per reports, Phule had filed a complaint with the police after spotting the decomposed body of the farm labourer Naresh Karudkar at his farmhouse on June 20. Phule had also mentioned that Rs 50,000 in cash was stolen from the farmhouse. After investigating the case the police arrested two person – Avinash Narule (24) and Rakesh Mahajan (26) for allegedly murdering Karudkar.
As per the police, Narule also used to work at the farmhouse. He was sacked in June by Phule after he found out that Narule was involved in diesel thefts. However, Narule kept meeting Karudkar and would often have dinner with him at the farmhouse. As Narule worked at the farmhouse, he was aware that Phule used to keep cash in a truck at the farmhouse.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola informed during a press conference that, on June 17, Narule visited the farmhouse with Mahajan and borrowed Rs 1,500 from Karudkar. Narule and Mahajan then went to a dhaba, consumed liquor, returned to the farm and killed Karudkar. The duo then fled away with the cash.
After rural police seized the cash, Phule told the police that the Rs 37 lakh in cash was owned by him and that he submitted wrong information to the police earlier. The police, however, are likely to submit the cash to the Income Tax department.
