Nagpur Metro makes historic ridership record; over 55,000 commute on Republic Day

Nagpur’s Maha Metro, on 26 January, broke all its previous records of ridership and witnessed 56,406 riders (approx.) combining both, Orange- Aqua lines, in a day alone. The last record-breaking ridership was recorded on 27 December 2020 with a count of 22, 123 riders.
Nagpurians rushed in and were seen standing in long queues to buy tickets for the metro ride on the occasion of Republic Day. Among others, Sitabuldi Interchange station was hugely crowded. A fellow rider Surbhi Dhomne, said, I never saw such huge gathering of people at the metro before. This is very encouraging and would go a long way in boosting Maha Metro ridership.
The entertainment and shopping facilities at the Maha Metro stations levels up the riders overall experience and it adds another charm to the ride, said rider Anant Chopra.
To commemorate the Republic Day and attract more riders, Maha Metro had organised various events and competitions and different metro stations. Drawing, music performances, skating contest, CRPF band and other events added fun and riders were seen having a good time with family and friends.
As per reports, Maha Metro had already prepared themselves to deal with a huge crowd and staff workers including, guards, station workers and housekeeping were stationed on duty. Maha Metro now awaits to break this record as well.

Couples from a group/club called ‘The Core’ were spotted having a blast at a ‘Hollywood Oscar Night’ themed party recently organised at Chattarpur Farms in Nagpur. The party was hosted by Rupali and Dhiraj Agrawal with Priyanka and Ashwin Jain.

During the night, couples and individuals were given taglines and awards based on their respective personalities. The award categories were ‘Enthusiastic and dynamic couple,’ Modern Romeo and Juliet, etc. After the award ceremony couple danced and sung together to make the night memorable.

Renowned singer KK passes away at 53

KK passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata

Renowned playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away at the age of 53 in Kolkata. The singer performed at Nazul Mancha auditorium on Tuesday (May 31). He went to his hotel after his performance and collapsed. He was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The exact cause of his death is unknown as of now.

Congress leader Ashish Deshmukh tendered his resignation as the General Secretary of MPCC to party Chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, May 31.

Deshmukh said that the decision to resign was taken after the Congress nominated Imran Pratapgarhi from Maharashtra as Rajya Sabha candidate. Deshmukh said that although he has resigned from the post, he would remain in the party and continue to work for the same. 

The list of Rajya Sabha candidates by Congress that stirred massive resent in the ranks, shortlisted 34-year-old Pratapgarhi – Congress minority department chairperson and a poet from Maharashtra. He had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Moradabad on a Congress ticket but lost his seat to a BJP candidate.
