The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch has summoned the director of Nagpur’s Meditrina Hospital Dr Sameer Paltewar for a probe. The development comes three days after Dr Paltewar was booked by Sitabuldi Police for cheating on the basis of the complaint by another director Ganesh Chakkarwar.
Chakkarwar, who is a renowned tax consultant, in this complaint had accused Dr Paltewar of misappropriation of hospital funds to the tune of Rs 5,36,415. Chakkarwar alleged that Dr Paltewar, from April 1, 2019 and February 19, 2021, charged more from patients and then showed bills of less amount in the hospital records by manipulating bills in the hospital software. Sitabuldi Police have booked Dr Paltewar under sections 406, 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 of the IPC and section 65 (C) of the IT Act.
Meditrina Institute of Health Sciences is run by VRG Healthcare Private Limited, which has Chakkarwar and Dr Paltewar as directors. While Chakkarwar owns 33% shares, rest of the shares are owned by Dr Paltewar and his wife Sonali Paltewar.
