Sangeet Singh Som
The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Sardhana constituency in UP’s Meerut Sangeet Singh Som, on Tuesday, sparked a row by saying that Muslims, who do not trust COVID-19 vaccines developed by the country, should go to Pakistan.
The BJP MLA went on to say that the Muslims, who did not trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the country’s scientists, should move to Pakistan.
“It is unfortunate that some Muslims do not trust our country, our scientists, our police force and PM Modi. Their soul belongs to Pakistan. They should go to Pakistan and not raise doubt over the work of our scientists,” he said, while answering about the Muslim community’s concern over rumours of COVID-19 vaccines containing pork gelatin.
This is not the first time the BJP MLA kicked off controversies. Commenting on the ongoing farmers protest against the Centre’s new farm laws, Som had claimed that none among those staging dharna were farmers. “Rather they are anti-farmers,” he had said.
