Maharashtra govt. to float global tender for COVID-19 vaccine, Remdesivir, announces Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that the state government would float a global tender for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine and Remdesivir injections.
Pawar, while addressing mediapersons, after reviewing COVID-19 situation in Pune on Saturday, April 24, said, We?ve decided to float a global tender for COVID-19 vaccines and Remdesivir vials under a committee that would be headed by Sitaram Kunte, Chief Secretary.
Pawar said state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey has also discussed the details of the vaccine with CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII) Adar Poonawala.
He added, We?ll ensure Maharashtra receives vaccines from foreign manufacturers with the coordination and support from the Union government.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.
Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
