In a recent development, the militant group ISIS claimed the responsibility of London terror attacks, which took place outside the British parliament on Wednesday.

The London Metropolitan Police were suspecting the role of certain Islamist extremists groups in the attacks, even before ISIS claimed the responsibility of the same.

The London Metropolitan Police, which is investigating the matter, had revealed immediately after the attacks that the attacker acted alone and he was shot after he stabbed a police officer outside the Westminster hall. The attack left five people, including the attacker and a police officer dead, and 40 others injured.

The attacker is said to have driven a car through the Westminster Bridge on River Thames, shearing down numerable people, before his vehicle crashed into a railing outside the parliament. The attacker is then believed to have left the car, and moved towards the parliament where he jabbed a police constable, with the knife he was carrying in his hand. After which, the terrorist was shot dead by the law enforcement agents.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, while expressing his solidarity with the victims of London terror attack, said, Deeply saddened by the terror attack in London. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

The President of India Pranab Mukherjee too extended his condolences to the bereaved families. Shocked to hear about the terrorist attack in London; the terrorism must be met through collective action by international community.

Initially, the incidents were taken as two separate attacks, but the police later confirmed that the man on the car and the one shot were the same. No Indians have been identified amongst the dead.

British Prime Minister, Theresa May, while addressing chairing COBRA (Government’s emergency committee) on Wednesday said, The location of this attack was no accident. The terrorist chose to strike at the heart of our capital city, where people of all nationalities, religions and cultures come together to celebrate the values of liberty, democracy and freedom of speech.She also added, any attempt to defeat those values through violence and terror is doomed to failure. Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal.
