KXIP starts its IPL 2018 campaign with a win, beats DD by six wickets

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), on Sunday, started its IPL 2018 campaign with a win as it beat Delhi Daredevils (DD) by six wickets at PCA IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

Batting first, DD lost its first wicket at just 12 runs as Colin Munro got out on a delivery by bowler Mujeeb Ur Rehman. DD captain Gautam Gambhir, however, kept the momentum going for the team as he top scored for his team by scoring his 36th IPL fifty. Gambhir equaled David Warners record of most IPL fifties. DDs total at the end of 20 overs stood at 166 runs at the loss of seven wickets.

Chasing a target of 167 runs, KXIP opener KL Rahul got his team to a flying start as he scored the faster ever IPL fifty off just 14 balls. After Rahul lost his wicket to Trent Boult, KK Nair took the charge and slammed a fifty off 33 balls. Nair lost his wicket to Daniel Christian just after his fifty when the team total stood at  138 runs at the loss of four wickets. David Miller and Marcus Stoinis took KXIP to the finishing line as the team chased the total of 167 runs in 18.5 overs thereby winning the match by six wickets.

While DD will play its next match against the returning Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 11, KXIP will play its next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 13.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.
