International Diabetes Conference ‘Hello Diabetes Academia 2018’ to be held in Nagpur from July 6

The Nagpur chapter of Diabetes Care Foundation of India (DCFI) in collaboration with Dr Sunil Guptas Diabetes Care n? Research Centre Private Limited (DCRC) will be organising an international conference – Hello Diabetes Academia 2018: An International Update – from July 6 to July 8 at Hotel Centre Point in Nagpur. The conference is being organised by DCFI and DCRC in association with Diabetes India (DI), Association of Physicians of India (API, Vidarbha Chapter), Indian Medical Association (IMA, Nagpur) and the Maharashtra chapter of Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI). The information was shared by Dr Sunil Gupta at DCRC during a press meet. The conference will be attended by more than 1200 medical professionals, 200 diabetes educators and around 300 diabetic children with their caretakers.

The conference will have several academic and scientific sessions, which will have plenary lectures, symposium, debates, hot spots, clinical case discussions, research paper session and workshops. Apart from experts from across India, four international speakers will also be sharing their knowledge at the conference. These international speakers include: Dr David Cherney (Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Canada), Dr Laurence Hirsch (Vice President, BD, New Jersey, USA), Dr Luis Gardete Correa (Vice President, IDF, Portugal) and Dr Sunder Mudaliar (Endocrinologist, San Diego, USA).

On July 6, a satellite symposium on Diabetes in Pregnancy (DIP)? will be held in collaboration with Nagpur Obstetric and Gynecological Society (NOGS). The symposia will focus on various issues related to diabetes during pregnancy. To spread awareness about diabetes, a Diabetes Educators Conclave (DE-CON) will also be held on July 6 in collaboration with Nutrition Society of India Nagpur Chapter (NSI-NC). DIP symposium and DE-CON will be inaugurated by Kanchan Gadkari, social worker Dr Rani Bang, Dr Gardete and Dr Hirsh.

The academia, on July 7, will be inaugurated by Dr Shaukat Sadikot, Dr Shashank Joshi, Dr Rajan Velukar (Ex-Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University) and Dr Gardete. On July 7, a workshop on nutrition and Insulin will also be held.

With an intention to empower patients with knowledge to fight with diabetes, DCFI will be organising a special workshop ? Juvenile Diabetes Conclave (JD-CON) – for Type 1 Diabetic children and their caretakers. JD-CON will be inaugurated by Dr Ajay Keoliya, Dr Amrish Mittal, Dr Mudaliar and Dr Hirsh.

1st COVID-19 case in Ramdaspeth crops up near Cabinet Minister Vijay Wadettiwars residence

For the first time, a resident of Ramdaspeth tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday. The patient, who is said to be residing in an apartment near Cabinet Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation in the Maha Vikas Aghadi and senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwars residence (behind Tuli Imperial), is said to be a middle-aged woman. 

The patient is reportedly connected to a resident from Mominpura. However, nothing concrete as of now can be said about the same. More details are awaited.

Nagpur: 91 test positive in 24 hours making COVID-19 tally rise to 1266

Nagpur COVID-19 tally as on June 20 rose to 1266 after 91 people tested positive for the virus in past 24 hours. Out of the total 91, while 69 patients belonged to Naik Talao/Bangladesh, 11 from Shantinagar, four from Lashkaribagh, three from Ganeshpeth, one from Uppalwadi, one from Ramdaspeth, one from Mehendibagh and one belonged to Mominpura.

Out of the total, 823 have been cured and over 333 are currently being treated upon.

Nagpur man discovers 4-month-old foetus in gutter; cops suspect illegal abortion

In yet another shocking incident, a resident named Rahul Tumane discovered a 4-month-old foetus lying in an abandoned condition behind his house (near plot number 13, behind Kajal Bar and Restaurant area) in Pardi inside a gutter. 

Police inspector Sunil Chavan told Nation Next that a four-month-old foetus, wrapped in a cloth, was found lying inside a gutter near a house on Thursday night in Pardi. Chavan also informed that the foetus was sent for an autopsy to Mayo Hospital and the reports are awaited. Police have suspected the possibility of abandonment after an illegal abortion. 

A case has been registered under Section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of a complained filed by Tumane.
