Country’s top shuttlers participate in badminton championship at Nagpur
It was a sight to behold when India’s ace badminton players like Akshay Dewalkar, Tapaswini Samatroy, Tushar Sharma, etc., gave their opponents tough time during the 73rd Inter State Inter Zonal Badminton Championship at Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur in Nagpur. Amidst much fanfare, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule inaugurated the championship at Divisional Sports Complex on November 1, 2017, which got concluded on November 3, 2017.
The championship, which was organised by Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) had players from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur and also Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB).
The championship was witnessed by around 4000 zealous students from Nagpur, who came to cheer and support team Maharashtra. Team Maharashtra defeated team Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals, where Mumbai’s Sanjana Santosh and Nagpur’s Vaishnavi Bhale emerged as the finest performers.
MBA President Arun Lakhani, National District Badminton Association (NBDA) President Kundatai Vijaykar, NBDA Secretary Mangesh Kashikar, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, General Secretary Badminton Association of India Punnaiah Chowdary were also present at the event, who lighted the inaugural lamp along with Bawankule.

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
