India was shocked to witness insult of Tricolour on R-Day: PM Modi on Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Addressing the first live Mann Ki Baat? episode of 2021 on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that amidst of all good happenings in the beginning of this year, the nation was shocked to witness the insult of Tricolour on January 26th.

Whenever I conduct Mann Ki Baat, it seems to me, as if I am present among you, as a member of your family. Our little conversations, which teach us lessons, and make us experience the sweet and sour moments, which become the inspiration of our lives- it is Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi said.

It seems a few days ago, when we were giving each other our auspicious wishes, then we celebrated Lohri, celebrated Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Bihu. Festivals were celebrated across the country.

On January 23rd, we celebrated the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as Parakram Divas and on January 26th, we also witnessed a spectacular Republic Day parade.

This month, we also received good news from the cricket pitch. Our cricket team made a great comeback, and won the series in Australia, despite facing difficulties initially. The hard work and teamwork of our players is extremely motivating, PM Modi said.

In the midst of all these, witnessing the insult of our Tricolour on January 26, in Delhi, made the nation extremely sad as well. We have to fill our upcoming future with new hope and novelty. We displayed exceptional restraint and courage last year. This year too, we have to prove our resolve by working hard, he added.

During the 73rd episode of his Mann Ki Baat, PM Narendra Modi also said that Made in India vaccines were a symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Just as India’s war against COVID-19 became an example to the world, similarly our vaccination programme is also becoming an example to the world. India is conducting the biggest vaccination drive in the world. Do you know what is even better matter of pride? We are not only running the world’s biggest vaccination drive, but we are also the fastest in vaccinating our citizens, he said.

Further, he also lauded the increasing participation of countrys women in different fields.

Dear countrymen, you would have heard a few days back that four women pilots commanded a direct flight from San Francisco in the US to Bengaluru. The flight covering a distance of over 10,000 kilometres brought over 225 people to India, PM Modi said.

You must have seen two women IAF officers creating history in this year’s Republic Day parade. Be it any field, the participation of the nations women is continuously increasing, he added.

He also lauded a differently-abled elderly man from Kerala for his contribution towards cleanliness.

I have seen one more news from Kerala, which reminds us of our responsibilities. There is a Divyang elderly person in Keralas Kottayam, NS Rajappan. He is unable to walk due to paralysis. But his commitment towards cleanliness has not faded, he said.

For past several years, he rows his boat in the Vembanad lake and clears all plastic bottles. Imagine how highly he thinks! We must also take inspiration from Rajappan ji and contribute towards cleanliness as much as possible, PM Modi added

An elderly couple was mauled by a tiger in Chor Bawali on January 25 while on their way from Narsinghpur (Madhya Pradesh) to Nagpur on January 25. The couple was accompanied by their 25-year-old son in a car. Following the tiger attack, the couple was admitted to Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur.

While on their way to Nagpur, the family of three stopped near Chor Bawali for passing urine. When the 58-year-old woman got out of the car, the tiger, which was probably wounded by a previous vehicular assault, caught hold of the woman’s hand and bit her thumb. When the woman’s husband stepped out of the car to help his wife, the tiger attacked him as well and injured his right leg. A terrfied son started throwing stones at the tiger, who eventually ran away.

The couple was given first aid by the bystanders before being driven to Nagpur by the son to Kingsway hospital. Speaking to Nation Next, treating surgeon Dr Prakash Jain informed that the family was terrified when it arrived at the hospital. Dr Jain said: “The couple is now stable. Tiger mauling is always serious. The couple was lucky to have sustained minor injuries in the incident.”
