Glenmark’s ‘FabiFlu,’ Hetero’s ‘Covifor’ get DCGI approval to treat COVID-19 patients

Indian pharmaceutical companies Glenmark and Hetero have received DCGI (Drug Controller General of India) for their drugs ‘FabiFlu’ and ‘Covifor’ respectively to treat COVID-19 patients.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals antiviral drug Favipiravir will be sold under the brand FabiFlu. The drug, which is in form of tablets, will be used treat patients with mild and moderate COVID-19 symptoms. The drug will soon be made available in hospitals and stores and will be available in a pack of 34 oral tablets at moderately affordable prices.
Each FabiFlu tablet of 200 mg will cost Rs 103 and a pack of 34 will cost Rs 3,500. The 14-day treatment with the medicine is estimated to cost Rs 14,000. The dosage will be 3,600 mg on day one and 1,600 mg from day two onwards for a 14-day treatment.
As per Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Favipiravir has been used in Russia, Japan and China to treat patients and has proven to be a success. The drug, however, is not recommended for people suffering from severe kidney or liver ailments, pregnant and lactating women.

– COVIFOR

Hetero Drugs generic version of Remdesivir will be sold under the brand name Covifor? in India soon. Remdesivir has already been granted DCGI approval for treatment of COVID-19 patients and suspects among adults and children with severe symptoms of coronavirus.
Covifor will be available in 100 mg vials (injectable), which will be needed to administer intravenously at a hospital facility under supervision of a doctor or trained healthcare worker.

Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Karad recently unveiled Dr Kavita Chandak’s book ‘Healing women with Homeopathy’ at the recently held National Conference of Homeopathy (HAMI 2022) in Aurangabad. Prominently present during the conference were renowned homeopath Dr Arun Bhasme and 3,000 other doctors.

In her book, Dr Chandak, who hails from Nagpur, has covered the most important and widespread gynecological disorders such as menarche, over dysmenorrhea to menopause; reflects issues from which women suffer frequently like sterility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, breast issues, pregnancy-related conditions like constipation, morning sickness, heartburn, uterine prolapse, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and urinary problems, to mention a few.

Dr Chandak has also given a thorough explanation on topics like cancer of the breast, uterus and cervix, which are the most prevalent types of cancers in women. Her book contains a study of several homeopathic remedies with special emphasis on gynecology through the chapters like the core of a few important female remedies and the homeopathic gynecological kit. The book also gives a glimpse of rare and lesser-known remedies.

It is worth noting that Dr Chandak holds two golden book world records for treating kidney disorders and a case of mucormycosis. She is also the recipient of ‘The Excellence in Homeopathy award 2022’ given by Hpathy.com to 66 renowned homeopaths throughout the world. Over the years, Dr Chandak has organized more than 800 free medicine distribution camps. She provides her services through her web clinic in 20+ countries. Her area of specialization is behavioral psychiatric disorders like autism and ADHD.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar (81), on Monday afternoon, said he had tested positive for COVID, but there was no cause of worry.

Pawar tweeted, “I have tested Covid positive but there is no cause for concern. I am following the treatment suggested by my doctor.”
He requested all those who had come in contact with him in the last few days to get themselves tested and take necessary precautions.
