Despite being 1/3rd of Mumbai’s population, Pune surpasses Mumbai’s COVID-19 tally

Despite Pune being one-third in population as compared to Mumbai, it has managed to surpass Mumbai’s COVID-19 tally as on August 17, 2020. As reported by ANI, total cases recorded in Pune as on August 17 were 1,30,606 as compared to Mumbai’s 1,28,726 cases.
Incidentally, a day before, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis called Maharashtra as the COVID-19 capital? of the country due to the rapidly emerging cases in the state.
Though the state’s recovery rate has increased from 69.82% to 70%, the mortality rate is 3.36 per cent.
As per ANI:
The total number of COVID-19 cases: Pune 130,606, Mumbai 128,726
Active cases: Pune: 41,020, Mumbai: 17,825
Death toll: Pune 3193, Mumbai: 7,133
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.
Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
