A 40-year-old man from Washim district’s Karanja Lad allegedly committed suicide after testing positive for COVID-19. The man’s body was found in a farm well located at Karanja-Kherda road on July 31.
The man reportedly had several other health problems. He was depressed after finding out that he had contracted COVID-19. Two days before the incident, he had run away from the COVID-19 Care Centre and a team of Karanja police had been tracing him.
“The patient had run away from COVID-19 centre here on July 29. His body was found in a well on July 31. On July 30, the police traced the mobile of the patient and it was found beside a well. The patient’s slippers were also found beside the well. The police called the deceased’s wife and brother. They identified the patient by his slippers,” police official Satish Patil said.
