COVID-19 cannot be contained by ‘jugaad:’ Mayawati slams Yogi govt.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati slammed the Central Government and Uttar Pradesh Government on July 20, for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, tweeting that the Coronavirus outbreak can be contained by ‘proper arrangements and not by ‘jugaad.
The way COVID-19 epidemic is assuming horrible shape? in Uttar Pradesh, (which has the countrys largest population of poor and backward people), is a matter of grave concern. The state and central government needs to be very conscious about this matter as well. It cannot be controlled by jugaad, but by proper arrangement (sic), the BSP chief tweeted in Hindi.
As of July 19, 2,250 new COVID-19 cases had been reported in the state in the span of 24 hours with total active cases rising to 18,256. A total of 19,845 people have been discharged after recovering from the virus with a death toll of 1,146.
Last week, Mayawati had also stressed upon the plight of migrants amid COVID-19 outbreak and had tweeted that they were reeling under poverty due to raging unemployment in UP.

In most government made COVID care centres in Uttar Pradesh, adequate cleanliness and arrangements have not been made. It would be better for the government to pay attention that these COVID care centres do not become the centres of spreading the disease, she had said in another tweet.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
