In order to contain rising cases of COVID-19, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Friday directed that citizens would be denied permission to board Aapli Bus without wearing masks. The decision was taken during a meeting, which was held at NMC headquarters in Civil Lines.

Narendra Borkar, Chairperson of Transport Committee, NMC, also warned that a fine of Rs 100 would be imposed in case driver or conductor of Aapli Bus is found not wearing the masks. The bus staff or city bus must always be in uniform while on Duty, Borkar informed.

However, if a conductor is found indulging in short changing the civic body, his ID would not be blocked and a proper explanation would be demanded from the driver. If a checker detects difference in tickets sold and money earned through sales or passenger without ticket, the conductor would be blacklisted and removed from rolls. After in-depth inquiry, if charges against conductor are proved, then he would be removed from service.

Administrative Officer Ravindra Pagey, Transport Department Vinay Bharadwaj, Accounts Officer Sameer Parmar, Mechanical Engineer Satish Sadavarte, Revenue Inspector Yogesh Lunge, Unity Services Rajesh Talegaonkar and other officials of DIMTS were present at the meeting.
