Chief Justice Sharad Bobde displays his cricketing skills at Judges Vs Lawyers match in Nagpur

Chief Justice of India Sharad Bobde was seen displaying his cricketing skills during a unique match between lawyers and judges held at VCA Stadium in Civil Lines, Nagpur, on January 19, 2020. Justice Bobde scored 18 runs, which included three fours. This match held between the teams HCBA (High Court Bar Association) President XI and Judges XI was ultimately won by the former team by 8 wickets.

The Judges XI  team included: CJI Sharad Bobde, Justice RK Deshpande, Justice RV Ghuge, Justice Prasanna Varale, Justice AS Kilor, Justice Avinash Gharote, Justice Atul Chandurkar, Justice VM Deshpande, Justice ZA Haq, Justice SB Shukre and Justice PN Deshmukh. The HCBA President XI team included: Praful Khubalkar, PB Patil, Ranjeet Bhulbhar, Abhay Sambre, Shrirang Bhandarkar, AR Patil, Amol Mardikar, Anand Deshpande, Shubhanshu Joshi, Mehroz Pathan and Nilesh Jangid.

Judges XI won the toss and elected to bat first. The team scored 54 runs and gave a target to 55 runs to win to the lawyers in 15 overs. Justice Bobde top scored for his team with 18 runs. Shubhanshu Joshi took three wickets for the lawyers. Chasing the total, lawyers scored 55 runs in 8.5 overs at the loss of two wickets, thereby winning the match by 8 wickets.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
