Bilaspur: 60 policemen quarantined after rape accused tests COVID-19 positive

As many as sixty policemen were quarantined in Chhatisgarhs Bilaspur on July 6 after a rape accused tested COVID-19 positive. The 28-year-old man accused was recently arrested from Mysore by Bilaspurs Civil Lines Police after he was charged in a case of sexual assault.
Civil Lines Police Station in Bilaspur has been sealed and declared a containment zone. Moreover, swab samples of all personnel have been sent for testing, Bilaspur Superintended of Police Prashant Agrawal told a daily.

The accused, who claims to work at Mysores unit of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, was detained and brought to Bilaspur on July 4. He was later sent in judicial custody. Jail authorities were alerted after his COVID-19 report returned positive.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day.
Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.
Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus.
Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
