Nagpur district is witnessing a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, as 500 new cases of the infection were recorded on Thursday.

Number of COVID-19 cases in Nagpur rose by 319 on Friday, taking the tally of total COVID-19 cases up to 1,37,814.

The new COVID-19 hotspots in the city have been identified at:
• Khamla
• Jaitala
• Swawlambi Nagar
• Jaripatka
• Jafar Nagar
• Dighori
• Ayodhya Nagar
• Wathoda
• Dharampeth
• New Bidipeth

Meanwhile, a delegation of various medical associations in Nagpur, along with Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Health Committee Chairman Virendra Kukreja, on Thursday, gave a statement to Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, regarding low count of COVID-19 vaccinations in the city.

Kukreja said that around 50,000 government and private doctors, along with nursing staff, paramedical staff and medicine dealers, have been providing their continuous services to battle against COVID-19, regardless of their lives.

So far, around 17,000 health workers have been vaccinated in Nagpur. Only 39,000 frontline workers have registered for the COVID-19 vaccine. These registered workers should get vaccinated by giving a call or notify them through a message, he said.

Information of the health workers, who haven’t registered themselves at CoWIN app, should be collected separately and they should be vaccinated as well.

Even after registration, some people have not been vaccinated yet, which is ruining dozens of expensive Covid Vaccine doses. As a solution to this issue, the medical organisations demanded to draft a waiting list of doctors and medical staff who are eager to get vaccinated, he added.
