Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut, on Friday, announced that she would be playing the role of India’s former and first woman Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi in a political drama. She would be producing the film under her banner Manikarnika Films.
Ranaut, who recently wrapped up the shoot of ‘Thalavi,’ in which she played the late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha, tweeted about this announced and said that director Sai Kabir would be writing and directing the film.
In a tweet, she wrote, “Happy to announce my dear friend Sai Kabir and I are collaborating on a political drama. Produced by Manikarnika Films. Written and Directed by Sai Kabir.”
Moreover, she posted a photo in a getup of the late prime minister from her early days of photoshoot and said, “This is a photoshoot about iconic women I did in the beginning of my career, little did I know one day I will get to play the iconic leader on screen.”
Along with this, Ranaut shared few pictures of PM Gandhi and wrote late writer Khushwant Singh’s description of her as the caption. “She was very beautiful, not pin up girl type beautiful, her face was like when all the swords are drawn just before the king’s command…- Khushwant Singh,” she wrote.
According to Ranaut, this film won’t be a biopic of Gandhi but a ‘grand period film.’ As of now, Ranaut is busy shooting for Dhaakad, in which she will be seen playing a female assassin.
