Advocate XI cricket club, Nagpur players felicitated for winning the Maharashtra Advocate Cricket Premier League

Advocate XI Cricket club, Nagpur recently brought laurels to the city by winning the Maharashtra Advocate Cricket Premier League 2016-17 organised by Pune Bar Association. The team was felicitated at a special function at the District Bar Association, Nagpur, wherein Advocate Mahesh Gupta (Chairman of Human Rights Department, MPCC, Mumbai and Past President, District Bar Association, Nagpur), Advocate M L Somalwar (Past President, District Bar Association, Nagpur) and Advocate Jyotindra Gandhi were the chief guests. Going down the memory line, these chief guests fondly recalled the times when they played cricket representing the Advocate club and also shared their experiences with the winning team.

Advocate Sudeep Jaiswal who was the highest wicket taker of the overall tournament also shared his experience of playing in the league. Sudeep recalled how exciting it was to be able to play the winning shot with an injured hand and lead his team to victory in the final match!

The winning team consisted of the following advocates: Sudeep Jaiswal (Highest wicket taker with 21 wickets), Ashish Gawande (Captain and best batsman with 398 runs and 12 wickets), S Foorqan Rezvi (198 runs, two wickets and man of the match in the 4th match), Praful Dangre (270 runs and man of the match in the 5th match), Sailesh Gore (123 runs), Sanket Aasre (12 wickets and 120 runs), Kumar Meghani (71 runs), Syed Shahid (16 wickets and man of the match in the final match), Yatarth Singh (8 wickets), Abhishek Sukla, Hemant Pancholi, Dhiren Upadhyay and Dharamraj Bogati.

Active COVID cases near 30,000 mark in Nagpur

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally, on Tuesday, January 25, reached 5,43,064 (till 5 pm) as 4028 (972 from rural and 2956 from city) new cases were recorded in a single day. 

Also, active COVID cases, as on Tuesday, could be seen inching closer to 30,000 mark in the district.

Six people lost their lives (one from rural and five from city) on Tuesday. Till now, 10,183 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district. Total tests taken were 11,377.
While patients who recovered on Tuesday were 2519, the total number of recovered patients stood at 503729.

Nagpur reports 90 COVID cases in past 24 hours

Nagpur’s COVID-19 tally on Sunday, January 2 reached 4,94,193 (till 5 pm) as 90 (73 city, nine rural) more people tested positive for the virus. 

Also, five patients recovered on Sunday taking the number of recoveries to 4,83,664. 

Till now, 10123 people have lost their lives due to COVID in the district. As of now, there are 406 active COVID patients in the district.

Nagpur registered 88 (81 from city) new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, December 31. Nagpur previously had recorded as minimum as six cases on December 24.
