In a shocking incident, a 66-year-old COVID-19 positive woman was not let go off by a Pune private hospital for four days even after she recovered from coronavirus as her family did not have the money to pay the hospital bill. 

It was only after Pune Municipal Corporation health department officials intervened that the hospital authorities agreed to reduce the bill worth Rs 55,000 and discharge her.

As per reports, the woman tested positive for COVID-19 along with her son on July 31. While she was admitted to Raising Hospital in Kharadi as she had trouble breathing, the son was admitted at Balewadi COVID-19 Care Centre. 

On August 15, the woman recovered at the hospital and was cleared for discharge. The hospital authorities then called up the woman’s relatives and asked them to pay Rs 55,000. However, after the kin of the woman expressed their ability to pay the bill, the woman was not discharged and eventually kept for an extra four days at the hospital.
